SMA YOUTH MINISTRY
The SMA Youth ministry is a platform for the pastoral care of the youths with a missionary dimension. The SMA youth group is an open group to all youths of all creed and spheres of lives. It is a platform for evangelization, faith
building, human development, inter-religious dialogue and ecumenism.
THE MISSION OF THE SMA YOUTH GROUP
The youths are first of all missionaries to themselves. They are expected to use the platform provided for them to enrich themselves spiritually, achieve high self-development, become ambassadors of peace and discern their
vocation in life. The SMA youths are organized and helped to visit different primary evangelization missions of the SMA and OLA (Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Apostles. They participate in various activities of
the SMA and OLA, such activities as Ordination, Solemn Profession, feast days, mission promotion activities etc.
In the long term, SMA Youth Group is expected to produce men and women of goodwill, ready to work to make the world a better place.
THE STRUCTURE OF THE SMA YOUTH GROUP
There are 3 tiers of organization in the SMA Youth namely, the Region, the Zone and the Community.
Region: Due to the vastness of the country, the SMA Youth is organized into two regions: the North and the South. The Regional level sits at the top of the structure of the SMA Youth project. This is followed by the Zonal Community structural levels.
All of these levels of organization have their various coordinators and councils who work with the Regional Spiritual Director within a given mandate as governed by the youth group working constitution.
ACTIVITIES OF THE SMA YOUTH GROUP
The youth group has all year-round activities; including organizing Regional Meetings where topics on human development, faith building, religious trends, mission strategies, vocations and entrepreneurship issues are discussed. The youths also attend retreats and recollections at different moments of the year and at the end of the year the youths are invited to a camp.
During camp, the SMA gathers youths, from all works of life including students and professionals, ranging from the age of 18 to 45.
Topics are carefully selected yearly to help the youths remain in tune with realities of life and face the challenges of our constantly changing world. Experts are invited yearly to help the youths discuss these topics of interest.
The SMA through its youth mission animation strives to effectively respond to the needs of the youths and provide them the needed assistance to lead a life of self-actualization.
